RapidShips serves freight from all of New Jersey and the New York City area at one dock: 25A Cotters Lane, East Brunswick, NJ. Port Newark Container Terminal is 28 road miles away (about 52 min without traffic), Edison and New Brunswick about 10 min, Staten Island about 36 min, and Manhattan and Brooklyn about an hour. The dock runs 24/7 by appointment. We do not run trucks: your carrier or drayage company brings the freight to us.[1]
Every job happens at the same 3-door dock in East Brunswick. We do not have branch locations, and we do not send crews to other sites. What changes by area is the drive to reach us, so this page lists measured road distances and drive times from the places freight usually comes from: the port terminals, Central New Jersey, the port corridor and North Jersey, the Shore and South Jersey, and New York City.[1][2]

How Freight Gets to Us
You, your carrier or your drayage company delivers the trailer or container to our dock. We do the dock work, then the freight leaves on the truck you arrange, or waits with us until it is ready to go.
- Cross-docking: truck to truck and trailer to trailer. See cross-docking in New Jersey.
- Container devanning and transloading: ocean containers unloaded, palletized or reloaded to 53-ft trailers. See container unloading and transloading.
- Freight recovery: port-rejected containers, shifted loads, freight rework and overweight correction.
- Storage and 3PL: pallet storage, short-term staging and B2B order fulfillment. See warehouse and 3PL services.
If you need a trucker for the port leg, ask when you call. We have helped customers find drayage carriers before, as one of our customer stories describes.
Port Terminals
Containers from the Port Newark–Elizabeth terminals reach us in about 40 to 50 minutes without traffic. That is close enough to pull a box, devan it here and return the empty the same day when the terminal and the receiver allow it. Terminal hours, appointments and holds are covered in our Port Newark terminal guide.

Port Corridor and North Jersey
Newark, Elizabeth, Linden, Bayonne and Jersey City sit along the port corridor, and North Jersey towns such as Secaucus, Carlstadt and Paterson are about an hour away. For a load that has to be fixed and delivered the same day, call before the truck leaves so the door is ready when it arrives.

| Elizabeth | 20 | 36 min |
| Newark | 28 | 43 min |

Shore and South Jersey
The Shore and South Jersey are about an hour or more away, so jobs from there are usually planned ahead rather than handled as same-day emergencies.

| Toms River | 45 | 1 h 03 min |
| Cherry Hill | 55 | 1 h 14 min |

New York
Staten Island is about 36 min away and Manhattan and Brooklyn about an hour without traffic; bridge and tunnel tolls and delays are not included. Freight headed into the city can be cross-docked or transloaded here onto the trucks your receiver accepts.

How We Measured
Each distance is the road route from our dock to a set point (the terminal gate address, or the town center), calculated with the Open Source Routing Machine on OpenStreetMap data.[1][2] Times assume free-flowing traffic. Real drive times are longer at rush hour, near the port at shift change, and on the bridges and tunnels into New York. We re-measure when we update this page.
